Overview
Nelson brings a unique perspective to employment litigation, drawing on his experience as both in-house counsel and a trusted advocate for employers.
Nelson's litigation experience includes defending employers against discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and breach of contract claims. He has obtained favorable summary judgment rulings in employment disputes and successfully defended a major automobile manufacturer in a federal discrimination trial.
In addition to litigation defense, Nelson advises employers on workplace policies, compliance, and litigation avoidance. Drawing on his background working closely with human resources and operations teams, he brings a practical, business-focused approach to helping clients navigate workplace challenges and manage legal risk. Nelson regularly counsels businesses on employment policies, employee handbooks, workplace training, and compliance strategies. His experience spans a variety of industries, including health care, manufacturing, financial services, and technology.
Before returning to Constangy, Nelson practiced at another national law firm and served as in-house counsel for a Fortune 500 manufacturing company. In that role, he advised human resources professionals and business leaders on employment law matters, managed outside counsel in employment-related disputes, developed workplace training programs, and drafted and reviewed policies to support compliance with state and federal laws. His combination of litigation and in-house experience allows him to anticipate workplace challenges and provide practical guidance tailored to clients' business needs.
